Program Goal:

The goal of the Cosmetology & Barbering Department is to provide students with high-quality, hands-on training in a simulated workplace environment that mirrors today’s professional salons and barbershops. By combining modern technology, real-world experiences, and mentorship from seasoned instructors, we aim to prepare students to successfully earn licensure, excel in their chosen careers, and become leaders and innovators in the beauty and grooming industry. With over 50 years of combined industry and teaching experience, our dedicated instructors, Cassi Leach, Kareemah Saadiq, and Le’Neka Smith bring passion, expertise, and real-world knowledge to every class.

Program Overview:

Our program offers introductory courses in both Cosmetology and Barbering, designed to give students a strong foundation in the beauty industry. Credits earned in our program may be applied toward the hours required to sit for the State Board of Cosmetology or Barbering examinations, putting students on the path to professional licensing.

We pride ourselves on providing state-of-the-art equipment, modern technologies, and hands-on training opportunities that mirror today’s professional salons and barbershops. Students gain experience not only in technical skills like cutting, coloring, styling, and chemically treating hair, but also in business practices, customer service, and professional development. This will ensure to prepare them for success in a competitive industry.
